Chapter Motto: Who I Am Makes a Difference

Jonas Babcock Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on October 9, 1970, to honor patriotism rooted in Jonas Babcock's legacy. The original eighteen members had planned to name their chapter for Carrie Adell Strahorn, but she was considered "too modern" to be honored with a chapter name. Carrie's Revolutionary War Ancestor, Jonas Babcock, was chosen instead. Our namesake, Jonas Babcock, was born in Stonington, Connecticut, on May 14, 1764. He served as a private in the American Revolutionary War at age fifteen, serving for three terms and earning a discharge as a sergeant in 1784. His father and brother also served, reinforcing a family legacy of patriotism that we honor today.
